How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Let steam out after showers

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for about two hours for a bath. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Pixham, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Signs you need bath resealing in Pixham

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Stained silicone
  • An untidy old seal
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

Resealing in Pixham: why it matters

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
