Bath resealing near Plashet

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Bath resealing in Plashet without replacing anything

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. If you’re dealing with damp near the bath and unsealed corners, we can normally put it right, on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

When to call us in Plashet

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Leaks at the edges

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who will actually do the work
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

10 questions to ask before you book

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Plashet questions

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, and that includes Plashet. Prices do not change with location.

How long does resealing take?

Typically a couple of hours, plus curing time.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Why it’s worth resealing in Plashet

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

See our prices page.

Prices and what affects them

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Plashet. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • A flexing bath
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes around two hours. The room is left tidy.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear the area around the damage
