DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

How we price bath resealing

We don’t charge extra for travel to Ponjeravah. The price comes down to:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Ponjeravah. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material

Questions from Ponjeravah

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

How long does a reseal take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

How it works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a couple of hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A flexing bath

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

Why reseal now?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Air the room after use

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
