Bath resealing in Redisham

About our bath resealing in Redisham

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and baths, and the jobs we see most are stained silicone and damp near the bath.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Open a window after bathing

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

When to call us in Redisham

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered
  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How soon you can use it again

Your questions about bath resealing in Redisham

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Normally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Generally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Why it’s worth resealing in Redisham

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes around two hours in most cases. We leave the room clean.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Open a window if you can

Related advice

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
