How we handle bath resealing in Rhoose

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. Common call-outs are for an untidy old seal and old sealant that looks dirty, in basins & vanity units, baths and shower trays & enclosures.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

When a repair is not the answer

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Do you need bath resealing in Rhoose?

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Common reasons people in Rhoose contact us include:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Damp near the bath
  • Black mould in the sealant

Comparing quotes

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How long it needs to cure

Choosing a repair company

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

How we price bath resealing

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Rhoose: your questions answered

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Usually because the bath or tray moves. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Rhoose and the rest of the Vale of Glamorgan. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.
