DIY repairs versus a professional job
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Bath resealing in Rhos Haminiog without replacing anything
We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We regularly repair wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most often call us about missing sealant behind the taps and old sealant that looks dirty.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Rhos Haminiog and across Ceredigion.

Rhos Haminiog: your questions answered
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Is there a call-out fee?
We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
Do you seal over the old sealant?
We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone will not bond to old.
What happens if you find more damage?
Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
How long does a reseal take?
Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.
Why does mould come back so fast?
Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.
Different materials, different repairs
Sinks and worktops
Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.
Shower trays
Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.
The process
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We cut out all of the old sealant.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

When to call us in Rhos Haminiog
No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Stained silicone
- A messy previous reseal
- Gaps by the taps
- Sealant that is split or lifting

Why it’s worth resealing in Rhos Haminiog
A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Looking after it afterwards
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:
- Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
- Ventilate the bathroom well
- Store bottles on a shelf
- Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
Honest limits
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
- Gaps too big for silicone alone
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
