Book bath resealing in Riverhead

Bath resealing in Riverhead, done in place

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Our repair technicians work on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and the jobs we see most are water getting behind the bath or tray and an untidy old seal.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a couple of hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Advice

When we would advise against a repair

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A flexing bath
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What we’re called out for in Riverhead

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning only removes the surface.
