Bath resealing in Rush Green

Bath resealing in Rush Green, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include gaps by the taps and damp near the bath, across basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Rush Green questions

How long does silicone take to cure?

We will give you the curing time, generally around a day.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Are there extra charges for Rush Green?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Rush Green?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

The process

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow about two hours for a bath. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Common problems we fix in Rush Green

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Unsealed corners
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

How to compare quotes

What bath resealing costs

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Rush Green

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
