About our bath resealing in Ruspidge

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. Whether it’s leaks at the edges and missing sealant behind the taps, we can usually put it right, on baths, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Landlord and trade work in Ruspidge

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Ruspidge as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It typically takes about two hours for a bath, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear the area around the damage

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Air the room after use
  • Use the extractor fan

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What affects the price in Ruspidge

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Ruspidge. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
