DIY repairs versus a professional job
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Bath resealing in Sankey Bridges, done in place
We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint is at its widest, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We are often asked to fix mould you can’t clean out and damp near the bath, across basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks.
All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

What a repair can’t fix
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- Gaps too big for silicone alone
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

How we price bath resealing
We do not charge extra for travel to Sankey Bridges. The price depends on:
- Access to the area
- Doing more than one item at once
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The colour and finish to match
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Sankey Bridges. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send pictures for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A photo taken from further back
- What it’s made of, if you know
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Different materials, different repairs
Sinks and worktops
We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.
Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.
Aftercare tips
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
- Give the seal a regular clean
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Ventilate the bathroom well
Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
Sankey Bridges questions
How do I stop mould in sealant?
Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.
What does bath resealing cost?
The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.
Why does my sealant keep splitting?
Normally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.
Is my repair covered?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
The process
On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- The old silicone is cut out completely.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.
How to prepare
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Make sure the area is dry
Getting a price
We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.
