Bath resealing near Seal

Bath resealing in Seal, done in place

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are a messy previous reseal and unsealed corners.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Seal and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Resealing in Seal: why it matters

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What you get with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Common problems we fix in Seal

Poor ventilation speeds things up: damp hangs around, and mould grows faster.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Choosing a repair company

What affects the price in Seal

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • Any details about the material
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Upload photos of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Seal, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Common questions in Seal

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Kent, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Seal?

We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your TN15 postcode.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A flexing bath
  • Hidden water damage

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes about two hours for a bath. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
