Bath resealing for Sedgehill homes

Bath resealing in Sedgehill, done in place

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Whether it’s stained silicone and mould you can’t clean out, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When to call us in Sedgehill

Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

10 questions to ask before booking

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

Why book with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Everything repaired in place
  • One visit for most repairs

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A flexing bath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Your questions about bath resealing in Sedgehill

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

How long before I can shower?

We’ll give you the curing time, usually around a day.

Do you come to Sedgehill?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Sedgehill for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.
