Bath resealing at your home in Shifnal

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. We are often asked to fix stained silicone and damp near the bath, across baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

FAQs for Shifnal

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A flexing bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Air the room after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

The process

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a couple of hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Shifnal use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will handle the rest.

Signs you need bath resealing in Shifnal

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Stained silicone
  • Damp near the bath
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who will actually do the work
