Shipton Solars: your questions answered
Do you work in Shipton Solars?
We do. We send a technician to Shipton Solars for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
What does bath resealing cost?
The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.
When can I use the bath after resealing?
We’ll give you the curing time.
My seal keeps tearing. Why?
Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.
Can you reseal over the old silicone?
All the old sealant comes out. New silicone will not bond to old.
Why does mould come back so fast?
Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.
Resealing in Shipton Solars: why it matters
Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

What bath resealing costs
A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:
- The material and finish
- The colour and finish to match
- How many areas need work
- How many items we do on one visit
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.
How to get a fixed quote
Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Where you are, by postcode
- Something in shot to show the size
- One sharp close-up of the damage
If you are in Shipton Solars and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
When we would advise against a repair
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
- Hidden water damage
- Very wide gaps that need a trim
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
Surfaces we repair
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Baths
- Wet rooms
- Basins & vanity units
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
What we do, step by step
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a couple of hours, including clearing up.
- The old silicone is cut out completely.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
How to get a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

How to care for the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Keep the joints dry
- Reseal at the first sign of lifting
- Air the room after use
Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.
Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
