Common questions in Shortwood

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

What does bath resealing cost?

We give a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your BS16 postcode.

What do you need from me?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

How we handle bath resealing in Shortwood

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. If you are dealing with gaps in the seal and missing sealant behind the taps, we can usually put it right, on baths, wet rooms and basins & vanity units alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hidden water damage
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Signs you need bath resealing in Shortwood

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

The things customers normally mention when they call are:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • How the colour is matched
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

How we price bath resealing

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Shortwood. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a couple of hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know about parking or access

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why Shortwood customers choose us

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
