About our bath resealing in Sidcot
The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We’re often asked to fix black spots in the silicone and missing sealant behind the taps, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What a repair can’t fix
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
- Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

When to call us in Sidcot
Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.
Common reasons people in Sidcot contact us include:
- Sealant that’s split or lifting
- Damp near the bath
- Unsealed corners
- A messy previous reseal

Why it’s worth resealing in Sidcot
Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Why Sidcot clients choose us
- CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
- Everything repaired in place
- One visit for most repairs
- We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
Looking after it afterwards
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Open a window after bathing
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Wipe the joints dry after use
Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.
Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Baths
We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.
Sinks and worktops
Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.
Landlord and trade work in Sidcot
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Sidcot use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
Questions from Sidcot
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Can you quote from pictures?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
What happens if you find more damage?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
What do you need from me?
Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Why does the silicone keep cracking?
Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.
Can pets and children be at home?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.
How long before I can shower?
Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.
Do you cover the whole of North Somerset?
Everywhere in the UK, Sidcot included. Travel is included in the price.
What happens on the day
From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a couple of hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
- We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
- The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
- Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
- We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.
Before we arrive
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Open a window if you can
