Bath resealing in Southfleet, done in place

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We regularly repair baths, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures, and people most frequently call us about stained silicone and sealant that’s split or lifting.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Southfleet: your questions answered

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

What does bath resealing cost?

We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Prices and what affects them

There is no charge for travel to Southfleet. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What the surface is made of

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Something in shot to show the size

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It typically takes around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
