Bath resealing at your home in Springwell

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Our repair technicians work on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most often call us about damp near the bath and black mould in the sealant.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes a couple of hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

What bath resealing costs

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

What a repair can’t fix

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Springwell: your questions answered

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Springwell. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath or shower and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower generally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Let steam out after showers

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.
