Bath resealing for St Margarets homes

Bath resealing at your home in St Margarets

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, plus curing time. We are frequently asked to fix discoloured, yellow sealant and silicone smeared on tiles, on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What affects the price in St Margarets

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Doing more than one item at once

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Most customers in St Margarets get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Signs you need bath resealing in St Margarets

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Stained silicone
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Unsealed corners
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

Before booking anyone

  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How the room is protected while they work

Choosing a repair company

Landlord and trade work in St Margarets

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

FAQs for St Margarets

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What do you need from me?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in St Margarets.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
