Bath & shower resealing (mastic) in Stow, Scottish Borders
Bath, shower and sink resealing with new mould-resistant silicone in Stow, carried out at your home and guaranteed for a year.
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Leaks at the edges
- Black mould in the sealant

Bath resealing in Stow, done in place
A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Typical jobs include a messy previous reseal and old sealant that looks dirty, in shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Looking after it afterwards
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Reseal at the first sign of lifting
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Dry the seal after bathing
Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.
Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
The process
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a couple of hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- The old silicone is cut out completely.
- We remove the residue and clean the joint.
- We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
Preparing for the visit
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
How to get a price

What we cannot put right
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
Surfaces we repair
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
Can I fix it myself?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Common problems we fix in Stow
Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Silicone smeared on tiles
- Gaps in the seal
- Leaks at the edges
What to look for in a quote
- What preparation is included
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- What happens if they find more damage
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers

Your questions about bath resealing in Stow
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.
Why does the silicone keep cracking?
Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.
Can landlords book you?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Do you charge for travel?
There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.
Are you accredited?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
How quickly can you book me in?
We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
Work for landlords and builders
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in the Scottish Borders and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Baths
We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.
Shower trays
Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.
