Bath resealing near Tantany

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Air the room after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Bath resealing in Tantany without replacing anything

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Common call-outs are for black mould in the sealant and gaps by the taps, on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a couple of hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

Tantany: your questions answered

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you work in Tantany?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Tantany from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower normally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Prices and what affects them

There’s no area surcharge for Tantany. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, with your B71 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

When to call us in Tantany

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Unsealed corners
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Stained silicone
