Trusted bath resealing in Tayport

What bath resealing costs

We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Bath resealing at your home in Tayport

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are gaps in the seal and gaps by the taps.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A flexing bath
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

Tayport questions

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Typically because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Do you cover the whole of Fife?

All of Fife, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can you price it without visiting?

Usually, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to look after the repair

Aftercare is simple:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Air the room after use

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Tayport. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • No extra charge for your area

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.
