Bath resealing for The Common homes

Bath resealing at your home in The Common

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. We are frequently asked to fix black mould in the sealant and damp near the bath, in baths, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

The Common: your questions answered

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

How long does resealing take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Let steam out after showers

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally around 24 hours.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What bath resealing costs

You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many items we do on one visit

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in The Common, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for around two hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Do you need bath resealing in The Common?

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

Our hiring checklist

Landlord and trade work in The Common

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

What your bath or shower is made of matters
