Bath resealing in The Flints

Bath resealing at your home in The Flints

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. If you’re dealing with missing sealant behind the taps and silicone smeared on tiles, we can normally put it right, on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and baths alike.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Hertfordshire.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

The Flints questions

How do I get a price for bath resealing in The Flints?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in The Flints.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we work on in The Flints

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

When to call us in The Flints

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

The things clients typically mention when they call include:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Black mould in the sealant

Choosing a repair company

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take around two hours, including clearing up.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Advice

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Read our prices page.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
