Bath resealing in The Grove

Bath resealing in The Grove, done in place

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We work on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are mould you can’t clean out and gaps in the seal.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a couple of hours. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Common questions in The Grove

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

You will get the curing time from us.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Do you work in The Grove?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to The Grove for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Air the room after use

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What bath resealing costs

There is no charge for travel to The Grove. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. Try to include:

  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Why it’s worth resealing in The Grove

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.
