Bath resealing at your home in The Slack
We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, so the seal doesn’t tear when the bath is first used. We’re frequently asked to fix silicone smeared on tiles and old sealant that looks dirty, across baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

Is resealing worth it?
Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What happens on the day
On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.
- We cut out all of the old sealant.
- We remove the residue and clean the joint.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
- New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.
How to prepare
- Open a window if you can
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice
What bath resealing costs
There is no area surcharge for The Slack. The price reflects:
- How much damage there is
- The type of damage
- What the surface is made of
- Doing more than one item at once
A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.
Send photos for a quote
You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:
- The material, if you know it
- Details of any past repairs
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.
Do you need bath resealing in The Slack?
Sealant doesn’t last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.
If you can see any of these, send us a picture:
- Mould you cannot clean out
- Unsealed corners
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Damp near the bath

How to look after the repair
A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Dry the seal after bathing
- Ventilate the bathroom well
- Give the seal a regular clean
Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.
Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
When a repair is not the answer
We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
- Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
About our accreditations · Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee.
