Bath resealing near Tidenham Chase

Bath resealing in Tidenham Chase, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. If you are dealing with unsealed corners and black mould in the sealant, we can help, whatever the material.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Monmouthshire.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Prices and what affects them

You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Tidenham Chase questions

How long does a reseal take?

Typically a couple of hours, plus curing time.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes around two hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • No need to remove anything
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Air the room after use
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
