Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Bath resealing in Trebanog without replacing anything

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Common call-outs are for unsealed corners and black mould in the sealant, on shower trays & enclosures, baths and wet rooms.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Questions from Trebanog

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What does bath resealing cost?

We give a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CF39 postcode.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Common problems we fix in Trebanog

In time, even good sealant discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Gaps by the taps
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

Before you book anyone

  • How the colour is matched
  • What prep work is covered
  • How your room will be protected
  • Who turns up on the day

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Prices and what affects them

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Ensure they show:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your CF39 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
