How we handle bath resealing in Trefin

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. Typical jobs include silicone coming away from the tiles and missing sealant behind the taps, across baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Do you need bath resealing in Trefin?

In time, even good sealant discolours. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for around two hours. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Open a window if you can

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Let steam out after showers

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, usually around 24 hours.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • No need to remove anything
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Trefin questions

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do you come to Trefin?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Trefin. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone will not bond to old.

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Hidden water damage

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What affects the price in Trefin

We charge the same across the UK, including Trefin. The price reflects:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Most clients in Trefin get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
