Bath resealing in Treworlas without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s silicone smeared on tiles and old sealant that looks dirty, we can help.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Resealing in Treworlas: why it matters

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

See our prices page.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Treworlas as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Common problems we fix in Treworlas

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Black mould in the sealant

Questions to ask before booking

  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How your room will be protected
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Your questions about bath resealing in Treworlas

How long does a reseal take?

Typically a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.
