Bath resealing in Upper Dicker

Bath resealing in Upper Dicker, done in place

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. Whether it’s black mould in the sealant and water getting behind the bath or tray, we can help, whatever the material.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Repairs by material

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • A flexing bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Hidden water damage

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Upper Dicker

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What bath resealing costs

We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • The material, if you know it

For a price in Upper Dicker, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

FAQs for Upper Dicker

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Do you come to Upper Dicker?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Upper Dicker. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower normally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone will not bond to old.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a couple of hours.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Ask for a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
