Bath resealing for Upton homes

About our bath resealing in Upton

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. We are often asked to fix sealant that’s split or lifting and gaps by the taps, on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Upton and across Somerset.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What you get with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Everything repaired in place

Read our pricing.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow a couple of hours, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

How we price bath resealing

Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Upton: your questions answered

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

The whole UK, including all of Somerset. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can new silicone go over old?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
