How we handle bath resealing in Upwood

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. If you’re dealing with an untidy old seal and missing sealant behind the taps, we can help, whatever the material.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Upwood as everywhere else we work.

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a couple of hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Upwood: your questions answered

How much does bath resealing cost in Upwood?

Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Do you work in Upwood?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Upwood. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

What bath resealing costs

We charge the same across the UK, including Upwood. The price reflects:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Upwood. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What we’re called out for in Upwood

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

Clients normally contact us about:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Damp near the bath
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who will actually do the work
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What prep work is covered

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
