Bath resealing near Virginia Water

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Bath resealing at your home in Virginia Water

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. If you’re dealing with unsealed corners and a messy previous reseal, we can normally put it right, on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and baths alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What we are called out for in Virginia Water

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Unsealed corners

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • How your room will be protected
  • How to look after the finish
  • What happens if they find more damage

Choosing a repair company

How it works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a couple of hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

What we can’t put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Hollow or loose tiles

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Virginia Water, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Why Virginia Water customers choose us

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Virginia Water. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

How long does a reseal take?

Generally a couple of hours, plus curing time.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.
