Bath resealing in Walton Cardiff

How we handle bath resealing in Walton Cardiff

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. We work on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and people most often call us about sealant that’s split or lifting and discoloured, yellow sealant.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Walton Cardiff and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes a couple of hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

Prices and what affects them

You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether we combine several jobs

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

For a price in Walton Cardiff, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Gloucestershire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Questions from Walton Cardiff

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.
