Bath resealing near Wervin

How we handle bath resealing in Wervin

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. If you are dealing with mould you can’t clean out and stained silicone, we can help, on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Resealing in Wervin: why it matters

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Hollow or loose tiles

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to around two hours.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Stained silicone

Our hiring checklist

Your questions about bath resealing in Wervin

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Wervin?

Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CH2 postcode.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You’ll get the curing time from us.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.
