Bath resealing for Whitecross homes

Resealing in Whitecross: why it matters

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why Whitecross clients choose us

Bath resealing at your home in Whitecross

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We regularly repair basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people contact us are mould you can’t clean out and damp near the bath.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a couple of hours. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let us know about parking or access

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Whitecross

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

What a repair cannot fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Common questions in Whitecross

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How long does a reseal take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Staffordshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
