Bath resealing in Whitehough Head, done in place

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. Common call-outs are for silicone coming away from the tiles and old sealant that looks dirty, across basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and shower trays & enclosures.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What bath resealing costs

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The material, if you know it
  • A picture taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Whitehough Head, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a couple of hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Whitehough Head: your questions answered

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Do you work in Whitehough Head?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Whitehough Head. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.
