How we handle bath resealing in Whiteleas

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Whether it’s damp near the bath and sealant that’s split or lifting, we can help, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

Whiteleas questions

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

How long does a reseal take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Whiteleas.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

What areas do you cover?

All of Sunderland, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Are there extra charges for Whiteleas?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What bath resealing costs

There’s no area surcharge for Whiteleas. The price reflects:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area
  • The material

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Whiteleas. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

Most clients in Whiteleas get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we’re there, the work takes a couple of hours in most cases. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Landlord and trade work in Whiteleas

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What we’re called out for in Whiteleas

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Damp near the bath
  • Unsealed corners
