Bath resealing in Witton Gilbert

Bath resealing at your home in Witton Gilbert

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are water getting behind the bath or tray and unsealed corners.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job usually takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

How we price bath resealing

Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking.

Send pictures for a quote

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Witton Gilbert use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Witton Gilbert: your questions answered

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How much does bath resealing cost in Witton Gilbert?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, normally with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, and that includes Witton Gilbert. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Do you need bath resealing in Witton Gilbert?

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

What we can’t put right

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.
