Bath resealing for Wooler homes

About our bath resealing in Wooler

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. Common call-outs are for gaps in the seal and missing sealant behind the taps, in baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Wooler, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Everything repaired in place
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Read our pricing.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

The process

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to around two hours, tidy-up included.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

Common questions in Wooler

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Do you come to Wooler?

We do. We send a technician to Wooler for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Air the room after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

How we price bath resealing

Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Access to the area
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
