When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Barlby

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Coloured shower trays

Coloured bath resurfacing in Barlby, done in place

A full suite is generally done in one to two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. We’re frequently asked to fix faded or patchy colour and selling or letting a home with an old suite, on coloured shower trays, whole bathroom suites and coloured basins.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Barlby

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Barlby use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

What affects the price in Barlby

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Barlby. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

The process

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to one to two days for a full suite, tidy-up included.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
