Common problems we fix in Broughton
Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s normally the colour that dates them, not the condition.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- Faded or patchy colour
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
- A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
What to look for in a quote
- How the colour is matched
- Whether a trained technician does the job
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
- When it can be used again
Coloured bath resurfacing in Broughton, done in place
A full suite is generally done in one to two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. Typical jobs include selling or letting a home with an old suite and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom, across coloured shower trays, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured basins.
Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

When we’d advise against a repair
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.
What we work on
- Coloured basins
- Avocado, pampas and pink baths
- Whole bathroom suites
- Coloured shower trays
What affects the price in Broughton
Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether we combine several jobs
- How many areas need work
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Quotes from your photos
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Any details about the material
- Natural light rather than flash
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- A wider photo showing the entire suite
Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your DN20 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a coloured suite involves new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing turns it white without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How it works
Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we are there, the work takes one to two days for a full suite. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
- We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
- Once cured, normally by the next day, the suite is ready.
Preparing for the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Let us know about parking or access
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice
DIY repairs versus a professional job
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
