About our coloured bath resurfacing in Crossgill

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. We are often asked to fix a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and selling or letting a home with an old suite, on whole bathroom suites, coloured basins and coloured shower trays.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Do you need coloured bath resurfacing in Crossgill?

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is typically the colour, not the bath.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom

What your quote should include

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How your room will be protected
  • Aftercare advice
  • What prep work is covered

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a coloured suite means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Crossgill

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • One visit for most repairs
  • No need to remove anything
  • No extra charge for your area

See our prices page or bath cost comparison.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Common questions in Crossgill

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Do you work in Crossgill?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Crossgill. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Coloured basins
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a day or two, depending on how many items, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Each item is left to cure, usually ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
