DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
Signs you need coloured bath resurfacing in Fivelanes
Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s usually the colour that dates them, not the condition.
People typically call us when they notice something like this:
- A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
- Faded or patchy colour
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
What to look for in a quote
- Who will actually do the work
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- How the room is protected while they work
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
What coloured bath resurfacing costs
Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:
- Access to the area
- How much damage there is
- The type of damage
- The material and finish
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Fivelanes. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Quotes from your pictures
Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:
- A photo taken from further back
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- What it’s made of, if you know
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.
What we do, step by step
We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes one to two days for a full suite. We leave the room clean.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
- The surface is prepared and primed.
- We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
- Each item is left to cure, typically ready the next day.
How to prepare
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access

When we’d advise against a repair
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Avocado, pampas and pink baths
- Coloured shower trays
- Coloured basins
- Whole bathroom suites
Common questions in Fivelanes
Do you work in Fivelanes?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Fivelanes and the rest of Cornwall. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
Can you do the toilet too?
Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll tell you what will last.
Can you price it without visiting?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
Do you charge for travel?
No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.
Should you replace it?
Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white changes the colour with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
