Common problems we fix in Gwndy

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s usually the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether the price covers travel

How to compare quotes

Coloured bath resurfacing in Gwndy without replacing anything

A full suite is usually done in one to two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. If you’re dealing with selling or letting a home with an old suite and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, we can help.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Gwndy questions

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can you do the toilet too?

Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll tell you what will last.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you work in Gwndy?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Gwndy from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a coloured suite means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing changes the colour without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How it works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a day or two, depending on how many items, including clearing up.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
