Lastingham: your questions answered
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.
Is there a guarantee?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
What about the toilet?
Ask us. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we will advise honestly before quoting.
What happens if you find more damage?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across North Yorkshire.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.
Do the materials smell?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Coloured bath resurfacing in Lastingham, done in place
Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. We regularly repair coloured basins, avocado, pampas and pink baths and whole bathroom suites, and the jobs we see most are a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and faded or patchy colour.
All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in North Yorkshire. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

What we are called out for in Lastingham
Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is usually the colour, not the bath.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
- Faded or patchy colour
- A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- What happens if they find more damage
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
Repair or replace: which is better?
Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
Why book with us
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
- One visit for most repairs
- One price list for the whole UK
Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
Honest limits
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
Materials we repair
- Avocado, pampas and pink baths
- Coloured basins
- Whole bathroom suites

Landlord and trade work in Lastingham
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
What happens on the day
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes one to two days for a full suite, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We protect the room and ventilate it.
- Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
- The surface is prepared and primed.
- We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
- We leave everything to cure, typically until the following day.
Before we arrive
- Open a window if you can
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
How to get a price
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
Advice
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:
- How many items we do on one visit
- Access to the area
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Getting a price from photos
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:
- Details of any past repairs
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your YO62 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
