Signs you need coloured bath resurfacing in Old Town

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s typically the colour that dates them, not the condition.

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Old Town

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. A full suite is typically done in one to two days. Whether it’s selling or letting a home with an old suite and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, we can help, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Old Town, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

Phone photos are fine, there is no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole suite
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a day or two, depending on how many items, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the suite is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Old Town questions

What areas do you cover?

All of East Sussex, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

How much does coloured bath resurfacing cost in Old Town?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Can you do the toilet too?

Talk to us first. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll advise honestly before quoting.

When we would advise against a repair

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays

Should you replace it?

Replacing a coloured suite means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
