How we handle tile repair in Old Town

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll say so. The tile stays where it is, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. If you are dealing with chips from dropped pans and tools and cracked floor tiles, we can help, whatever the material.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

How we price tile repair

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Old Town. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • The type of damage
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • What it’s made of, if you know

To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll say right away if a repair is the right fix.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Old Town

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can you fill holes left by old fittings?

Yes. Drill holes from old rails and shelves are a common job.

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Are there extra charges for Old Town?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Do you need tile repair in Old Town?

Dropped pans and tools chip floor tiles, and wall tiles get drilled for fittings that are later removed. Cracks can also come from movement in the floor below.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Cracked floor tiles
  • Chips from dropped pans and tools
  • Drill holes from removed fittings
  • Discontinued tiles you cannot replace
