Oxted questions

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Are there extra charges for Oxted?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Oxted

Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. A full suite is normally done in one to two days. If you’re dealing with selling or letting a home with an old suite and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom, we can generally put it right, on coloured shower trays, whole bathroom suites and avocado, pampas and pink baths alike.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Surrey and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

If you manage property in Oxted, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a coloured suite involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white with everything left in place. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

What you get with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

See our full price list or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What affects the price in Oxted

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Oxted. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When to call us in Oxted

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. It’s typically the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What prep work is covered
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether the price covers travel

How to compare quotes

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Coloured shower trays

The process

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a day or two, depending on how many items.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the suite is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the suite, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.
